Welcome to the New WorldA Poem by T.S. RexA little something I was thinking about in another one of my pregnancy-induced-insomnia episodes
The world is surely falling apart
Yet some claim it be at its peak How can that be at a time like this? Our very foundation is beginning to shriek The blood of a child-warrior stains the sand And our own warriors come home broken Here is your award, fierce warrior, we say And leave them to rot with their little token Modern medicine is a blessing Unless you can’t afford the premium Then you die from the flu and infections As senators and representatives fight over mediums Our standards have been lowered The children hardly pick up a book Unless it is an easy read with nice big font They hardly take a second look How is it that we are civilized? © 2009 T.S.
