All messed up in blue

All messed up in blue

A Poem by terry smith

Her landscape
was a beach lined tapestry
of overgrown ashtrays
and liquor bottle seashells
that echoed of depression

pills like birdseed littered her floor
and dandelion needles mar kentucky blue

in the corner a pile
of unused phone numbers
from men she never
meant to meet

and as the days fade
to darkness
she walks the tracks of no train
to the station
and waits

-- she was the victim of abject neglect... ignored by everyone around her... but most of all... ignored by her innermost self... -- it's not that she doesn't want to mend and heal... she does... but doesn't know where to begin... and so she waits for thoughts, ideas, words, poetry... a fragrance... something... just something that reminds her that she's still alive and that it matters...

-- you bring her to life in your words, monsieur terry... with exquisite images and intense sensitivity...

Sometimes i feel this person is in the wrong place

as if those bottles are not hers
the smoke not from her cigarette
she doesn't smoke

but trying to find happiness in the wrong place
until you came along
