The Accidental GentlemanA Poem by terry smith
I was in a hurry
quickly I reached for the door I didn't even see her till the door was already opened I let her go through first We arrived at the front desk at the same time I hesitated for a moment she thought I let her go first I smiled she smiled later, leaving to go eat she happened to be waiting for a taxi I dropped my coat as the car arrived she stepped on it and got in the car ...and then motioned for me to join her The next morning when I got out of her bed she said to me "I thought you were a gentleman, but you were no gentleman last night!" and I replied "The universe lied."
