quiet confessions

quiet confessions

A Poem by terry smith

Everyone said she was a shy girl
they couldn't understand why she would take her own life

her body however told a different story....

cut marks on her left arm
burn marks on the right
bruise hidden by maybelline
and many a fracture no one had seen
her womb had been ravaged
though she was quite young
her brain full of holes
from the barbs that had been flung
an eating disorder she did not share
was evident from the loss of her hair
track marks behind her left knee
her body was so obviously a plea

for help.

So sad to feel all that pain and never speak of it. Powerful, Terry

It is a message to all the mute and abused to speak up.

I had a student that used to cut herself and always wear long sleeves to hide it, till one day I simply asked.. and she was able to get help afterwards..
their silence is louder than anything..
