The Hiker

The Hiker

A Poem by terry smith

I used to leave a light on,
...so you could find your way back to me.
But your silence was my Everest...
so now I sleep with the lights off,
alone.

-- ah... one of the most brilliant descriptions of silence that i have ever come across... -- i have known what it's like to be at the receiving end of silence... and i have known the sense of isolation it inflicts...

Are you sure you left a light on
Because now it just looks super dark
total confusion
