Swan Song

Swan Song

A Poem by Tasteless Heart

Let me begin my final song

The one I’ve waited for so long

This pain it has eroded me

I’m here now broken, on my knees

These words I write to you are numb

I try explain what we’ve become

“I loved us once” you said to me

Now all that’s left is misery

At first my feelings turned to rage

Its easier to deal with hate

The hopelessness began to set

As I remembered to forget

In mindfulness I sought escape

A stronger me I longed to make

In all my efforts couldn’t see

My heart was slowly failing me

I ask no pity, feel no shame

I have no vengeance left, no blame

I’ll smile to give the others hope

I know inside what they can’t know

Fulfil my duties every day

I’m here for him, I will not break

I’ll bide my time, the day will come

When I can leave this world unloved.
