Pebble

Pebble

A Poem by Lei

On the beach I roll

my fingers around the surface

of a tiny pebble in the sand.

I see it as a mighty rock,

a million years past.

Travelling with it in the rolling tides,

I feel the touch of many hands.

Through this tiny shard of rock I see

into the heart of things,

the awesome force which connects us all

and through which we are connected.

Each particle of sea and salt, that

lovingly lapped the pebble as it

drifted through the passing ages,

each suspicious fish

that darted forward to place its nose

upon its surface,

each clingy weed that came along

for the ride,

each absent-minded finger

lost in thought.

I feel them all as imprints

on its whirling surface.

the infinate mysteries of the universe, all the unexplained and all that is clarified - each encounter. Mystery, infinate undescovery, and we have so much to learn. That's what I get from reading this piece. Great Job.
