Shield
A Poem by T. Smeltz
Just flowing thoughts
The Pin Up gypsy queen with glossed eyes points with her black nail sparkle to the magnified spaceship Apollo. The planets enlarge as we reach our destination. The dropping of change below Michelangelo echoes centuries back. Walking through the Roman gate the rich wave and flicker rings for poor lands to crawl through. The territory is vast but finite by time. The light vibrates more than usual in February and we wish upon a star. The cloud cries to be empty while the castle beside it is proud to be full. The motion of sickness; the cycle I'm glad is over. The horse flares with pink eyes as the Tokyo drifters screech through the street. Side to side they ride. Saddle up the donkey for the journey to kingship is long and eternal. Palm branches put before him, they will change their minds. The arrows bounce from my gold shield as the armor shines by itself. Take his feet out while I block his speech. It's over.
