Wolf

Wolf

A Poem by T. Smeltz
"

A poem of loneliness.

"
Waiting for something that wasn't meant to be. Trying to fill my heart in a hollow tree. A dream of fireflies turned to fairies, a mistaken love for a fantasy. My heart is broken in my frenzy. Ain't no rhyme or reason this old heart just grown cold in its season. The solid block stands still in my chest. The hope all gone and not so blessed. To caress a lover in the morning I feel is going and fading as I grow colder. The hope I had as a tween so lost as a teen then older. This cold air on my mountain face dispels the believe I had in such a dream, a warm embrace. I wander up and down from hill to not so solid ground in my feet, the trumpet of my enjoyment. The running and running and sprinting on all fours I take the stage to join the bears and wolves. I am one of them. A lone animal in the hunt, sniffing the musk of the air, I have lost emotion. The food I long for has changed and I now fear the wolfsbane.
