Casket CaseA Poem by T. SmeltzPoem
The brown walls fill the environment while smoke and mirrors cloud the casket I've been buried in for a time. The show consummates the need for adoration by the privileged crowd gathered for a haunting quartet of fun, flattery, fascination, and fear. Desire for the next trick, applauds the corpse garden before me. What will they want? The stage of right and left fills them with mystery as the outcome portrays my life of want, need, and disappointment. Scenario after scenario after scheme after plot it unfolds the untold future for the spectacle of another tomorrow, as today becomes yesterday and a year a month. Will the act last or the coffin be the home I know til time is consummated as well?
