Road Of FearA Poem by Tarry FranckDown the road I see A stranger walking Do I stop and help Or do I let him be, The good hearted person I am Stops and says "Do you need a ride, man?" He throws his back pack in And I ask how far he's going And he says to the end, I ask if he cares for any specific tunes He requests nothing And suddenly I fear a gut instinct of doom, I make several stops but he never is in need A soda, restroom not even a favorite mead, We get down a desolate road And he demands that I pull over So he can take a stroll, He approaches my window And demands me out And leaves me holding my bag With so many thoughts of doubt, I carried him halfway across country Takes my ride and leaves me to be Holding hell in a handbag For all passerbys to see Does anybody stop to help me, No and if I would have thought it through I wouldn't be the one on the roadside Now thumbing a ride.
