Damsel In Distress

Damsel In Distress

A Poem by Tarry Franck

She grew her wings
In the desert
Brittle they became
And within that
Grew such shame,
Her frail body walked
No help in sight
For minutes, hours, days
But she had to keep her strength
Her might,
On bended knee
We all gathered and prayed
And this vibrant body
Gained a gust of wind
And we find her wings are strong
And flying again,
She fluttered by to give thanks to
Each and every one of us
But all we did is like any others would
Give strength to a guardian angel in distress.

I view this poem as that of a person who nearly lost all hope due to a series of unfortunate events in his/her life. It is true that there are people out there who are willing to give a helping hand to someone in need and it's never too late. I just wish that people would come helping at the right moment not when it becomes too late but really, we should face it, almost all of us only help when we are pressured to do so. But this is just my perspective. It's still more acceptable to just help with an initiative to begin with and no intention of receiving something in return. Just like in your poem, we might never know that someday, when we helped someone, that "someone" might turn out to be a guardian angel. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much
reminds me of the tale of the Phoenix rising from the ashes, a common theme in literature and very popular. however, you have given an angel back her wings. nicely done.
