Pay It ForwardA Poem by Tarry FranckA man came up to me one day And asked, "Why are you looking so blue?" I explained to him that I was white He said, "No silly, your mood. You look down Is there anything I can do?" He bought me a bite to eat And some water to drink Never did I get his name But to me he will never be strange, On my way home I almost walked right past It was his lucky day For if I was not looking down I might have squashed him in the ground, I saw the beauty within And knew right away Like that man He needed a friend, One lone weed Wilting away In a desolate field Surely he has not come this far To be this frail I think not So a mile I walked For him some water Out of the wishing well, We share the same One, we're on common ground For this is my land And I felt as he did Just not long ago No hope left inside Just withering away Waiting to die, Nothing to look forward to So I did what the man did for me It was now my destiny, Every day I would bring water And watched how this lone weed A male weed I thought it to be Until one day it expressed a beautiful flower For only me eyes to see A little water and care The next day it expressed itself so soon And showed me the most angelic bloom So my new found friend Paid it forward When I went back to visit The whole acreage Was filled with such angelic blooms It left me in total bliss All I could do was sit And shed a tear or two.
