Shrouded In Darkness

Shrouded In Darkness

A Poem by Tarry Franck

My mind in chaos
Not sure where to turn
Can't handle the vibrations
From the sounds
So I stay in isolation
Want no others around,

It's easier to stay in the dark
No need to burden them
With my clouded thoughts,

For they have nothing to gain
But I will find
The strength to hide
The weakness and sorrow I feel
But for now, here I remain
Shrouded in darkness
While their moon waxes
And mine wanes.

Robert Frost has a poem called "Revelation" We find ourselves a place apart / behind light words that tease and flout / but, oh, the agitated heart / til someone find us really out

We all hide ourselves from those around us sometimes. I am a practiced chameleon of many years. Frost says "But so with all from babes that play at hide and seek to God above, that all who hid too well away must speak and tell us where they are."

Robert Fulghum said it this way, "Get Found, Kid!"

My pleasure
A very strong poem. Good to hide in the darkness to gather strength and thoughts. I like the way you led the reader into thoughts and location. The ending was amazing.
"Shrouded in darkness
While their moon waxes
And mine wanes.'
Thank you for the excellent poem.

I agree with the other critique about the stanza division. It makes it a little bit difficult to read. That being said, I feel like the emotion behind the poem is pretty solid and definitely conveys to the reader.

I found the stanza division a little awkward, but who's to say I have any merit as a literary critic. I'd like to see more comparison between what exactly their brightness is and what exactly your darkness is. Just sayin'.
