Poetry is my Passion

a short compilation of what it's like for me to be a poet.

I'm not the greatest.

 

And maybe I'm not even original,

maybe every thought i think or write

has already been thought of.

 

I'm not good at grammar or punctuation,

and i don't always have a left hook that

"really knocks people out!"

 

But I do know that every time I see the word
"Poetry"

My heart stops for a second,

and maybe that makes me a nerd,

but I'm ok with that.

 

And when I tell people I'm a poet.

I feel powerful! and important.

 

Like I have something to say and you will listen.

you don't have to like it, but you can at least respect it.

And when i write it gives me purpose

and makes me special somehow.

 

It's a release and a gift.

and a curse all in one.

 

I'm not the greatest.

But i don't have to be because,

 I LOVE POETRY!
