Fluffy's Revenge
A Poem by Tara

Bloated . floating face up in the pool I had failed to cover.
I couldn't face the bloated creature.
Couldn't face the failure.
It was the same with the mouse and the things needing to be fixed.
There are so many things uncovered.
Broken.
I used to be a fixer.
Still am to a certain degree.
But some things cannot be fixed.
Like Fluffy.
He was given a plastic bag and thrown into the trash can
by a compassionate friend.
Perhaps we should have said a few words.
Gave him a dignified burial.
I am sure the bloated creature is now in some idyllic place
living a resurrected life.
I, on the other hand am still living this life.
Trying to figure out what needs to be covered.
what should be left uncovered.
What needs to be left.
What needs to be held onto.
And knowing that nothing can ever really be held on to.
Everything must be let go of eventually.
Even bloated pool creatures.

I like that you do not name the type of creature.
Lets our imagination stay out of the plastic bag so we are not suffocated with
one direction.
and the parallel to our lives...maybe we should end up in a plastic bag...and then come back in a reincarnation...
I hope we can swim.
