‘Happy Fathers Day’

Love, Tara Jean Olson

June 20th, 2010

After scraping off soiled boots,

He enters through the back door.

Exhausted from activity, his clothing is damp,

And residuals of the ranch linger on his skin.

He seeks nothing more than a saddle and a shovel

With a smile on his face, he speaks

‘The best thing about being retired,

Is that I’m busier than ever.'

He is an extra large Swede.

In addition to sharpening his roping technique,

He finds peace in making things grow.

The running creek flows easy,

Nurturing the saplings that Mother Nature sprinkles about.
