My Brown Eyes

My Brown Eyes

A Poem by Tanya24Alex

Brown eyes have warmth, they say.
It is like the rich soil
Where life chooses to be planted in.
So beautiful, so sweet,
Like melted chocolate on soft marshmallows,
Or like hot coffee that
Gets you addicted to it.
Brown eyes are pretty, they say.
But my brown eyes are dark
Like the destruction that
Every storm brings in its aftermath.
Look into my brown eyes
And you will see the reflection
Of all the violence of mankind.
My brown eyes aren't sweet.
They aren't like the coffee
That is bitter and yet people love it.
They are hard, armour-like,
And numb.
I am immune to the pain
Of the world.
Catastrophe, disaster, toxic,
My brown eyes have witnessed them all,
Causing them to lose their innocence,
Their beauty,
Their warmth.
Leaving empty black holes as replacement.
