I Am Your Daughter

I Am Your Daughter

A Poem by Tannit

I am your daughter
I am your babe
just out of diapers
hugging a bear
with one ear ripped
in a game of tug of war

I am your daughter
I am your child
boxes full of dolls and toys
games of make believe
castles in the living room

a princess comes for tea

I am your daughter
now I'm your strife
I plead for understanding
and you may plead the same
just remember how I once was
before we learned to scream
