A Little Ditty

Inspired no doubt by rereading Alice in Wonderland the other day

As the little girl did wander
as a little girl will do
she soon began to wonder
at the others passing by.

 

"I wonder," said she
as another wandered past,
"if they wonder as they wander
just like you or I?

'And if everyone that wanders,
also wonders as they walk,
then perhaps it safe to say that
he that wanders, wonders too."

 

And her mind began to wander
to such a splendid state,
that all the other wanderers
did wonder at her face.
"If to wander is to wonder,
is to wonder - wander too?"

 

So suddenly she stopped
and sat down right away.
"Oh, what a lot of nonsense
I have thought along my way!

'But perhaps we only wonder
when we wander... If that's so...
then to wonder is to wander
and to wander is just that!"
