Confidence

Confidence

A Poem by Tannit

the silence between us is bleak
she said
but i refuse to speak
to play along with your twisted games
chasing my tongue through the maze
my throat is parched
my skin is dry
but i would risk my own demise
to escape your icy lies
so here we'll sit with my sword at your throat
'til you see what you helped create
untie these ropes around my wrists
release your snarling dogs
i lace my boots
i tie my hair
i challenge the monster in his lair
your logic has failed you
your system denied you
i'm no longer compelled to believe
your souls have devoured you
your creature betrayed you
there's no reason left not to leave
