submerged beneath the waves

submerged beneath the waves

A Poem by Tanner Brockwell

submerged beneath the waves
ah current au courant
ever to reemerge
sweated wrung breathless
uncontainable as stuttering
explode
the sensory experience
the sensational remains
neon ropes flashing
the dusted tumbling
for dry winds upon the plain
dry days dry nights
lost in words lost for words
lost
returning
refusal rifest restraint
a berth aboard a phantom
whistling sung the air
and there and there
the hapless care
conveyors metal
conveyed so then
meanings that were places
built and set in twilights wet
that shrouded by fogged rainy skies
and i set down down from on high
to hurry for a joining night
a hurry for i would light
unto the sky again i saw
tableau of persons far far below
and this passage was no mere mean feat
but common as the stars would greet
and i rushed as i would hurried be
a home for love a love for home

This poem speaks. I read it twice and tried to write down what I thought each line meant. It was no easy task, but after looking up the definitions of a few words I got a better understanding. I believe the poem is about a transformation of yours. I thought the change from nature to metal and imagery of a foggy city skyline was ingenious. The same with beginning the poem with the image of water and then going to a dry dusty plain. I really enjoyed this poem... even if my review didn't quite convey everything I got out of it. Thanks for sharing!
