Buddha retold

Buddha retold

A Poem by tanmay7551
"

A brief description of the journey of Siddhartha to Gautam Buddha.

"

Wrecked by realities of life and death,

His hunger for the truth found a new horizon.

Luxuries of life pinched every moment,

Shackles of society turned into heartburn.

Leaving behind everyone he loved

Renunciation found a place in his life.

Death, rebirth, and desire

Weapons of Mara, a demon who awaits.

Deep in the forest he practiced

Control of his senses and withdrew

From all the privileges of a Prince.

Temptations of Mara challenged

But Will did not surrender.

Conquering lust for daughters of Mara

The third eye awakened

Self-realization achieved.

Middle path he taught to the world, between

Sensual indulgence and severe asceticism.

Journey of Siddhartha to Buddha unfolds,

Once more, Life of Buddha retold.

I enjoyed the poem. You gave a history lesson in so few words. I liked the directness of the thoughts leading to the strong ending. The poem made the reader learn and think. The goal of the writer. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I enjoyed this poem. Although I consider myself religionless (if that's a word), if I had to choose one, it would be Buddhism. I love the Buddha's teachings about life. They're so simple yet so true and applicable.

I like the educational and poetical aspects of this piece. It not only informs the reader of the Buddha's journey, but captures that journey in a way that's emotionally appealing. I especially enjoyed the line "shackles of society turned into heartburn" as it perfectly describes how the Buddha most likely felt before his quest for truth.

I think this piece is a good way for readers to get an introduction to Buddhism and understand why the Buddha was so impactful. Good job on this.

That's so inspiring! Thanks William for your analysis and review of my work!
Buddha....... he's the only one I believe in, my favourite god just because he's not a god but a great human who believed in simplicity and peace.....
I trace his path... I like simplicity... I live in a complex world but I'm simple....
A nice way to represent the story of Buddha.... Buddha Retold.....
very nice topic along with what you call simplicity throughout the poem........
Good job!!

Nice poem. It's a really unique but powerful way of saying Buddha's story--in a poem. I loved it! You used really good words--like advanced ones--had to look up some of them...
You did really well!! It felt good to read it.
Unique concept.
Keep writing!

i wonder if we can every really find the answers...and if so, if those answers will placate our thirst for knowledge, truth and peace...
