Once upon a time in Waynand Mansion

Once upon a time in Waynand Mansion

A Story by tanmay7551
"

Once upon a time it so happened with Waynanads.

"

Waynand family was well known among their social group for garment business and flourishing wealth. ‘Waynand Mansion’ stood alone in the ‘Angel Square’ " a posh locality of the city and all other houses few paces away, suggesting their dominance and at the same time isolation from the rest, depicting their power and strength over others.

Satisfaction is a hard virtue to achieve and out of reach for Waynands. Greed was their motto and they could go to any length in extracting last penny out of the people who owe them.

It was a usual Sunday morning. The young boy Jim of the family rushed out of the bungalow heading towards the parking.

Few minutes later…

“Gone, it’s Gone!” shouted Jim. Within few minutes to follow whole family had gathered in the parking and it took them few seconds more until they started staring at the security guard who stood with fear. Jim could only rest after guard was fired from his job without last month’s payment of course. This was though a very small price to pay after all. He had lost his sports bike right from his own house and it was just because of the low standard, poor, careless and pathetic security guard - he thought.

Monday morning brought another miracle into the house. Waynands had gathered again after hearing constant shouts from Jim. There stood his sports bike unharmed in a single piece and a hint of romance on the face of Jim. Boy, he loved his bike too much, damn. But soon a wave of surprise followed on every face once they discovered a note placed under the front wheel of the bike. This time though they had no one else to stare or blame or question. Security guard was already relieved from his duty and the one to follow will join them only two days later. The note read:

“Dear Sir, I had my own reasons and helplessness in committing the first ever theft of my life. I am a God fearing person and now I regret for having committed this sin. I have managed to solve my problems and hence, returning your bike with a small token of apology.”

Attached with the note were tickets of latest popular movie running in theatres.

Waynanads didn’t waste time in coming to conclusion and decided to provide salvation to their poor thief by accepting his gift.

Whole family had a great fun watching movie, the last show of the day late at night. Especially, when this had become a complementary affair they enjoyed it more and had a satisfaction that lasted throughout the show.

It took them about an hour way back home. Jim as always was again the first one to rush into the Bungalow and again the first one to shout, “What the hell? What happened here?”

Plan - executed with perfection. They had been robbed and at least they knew the culprit this time.

On the other hand Creed had the last laugh. He had studied ‘Waynand Mansion’ since months. He had recorded each and every members exit and arrival into the house, their habits, their interests, dislikes, plan of the house, estimation of assets he can rob and also managed to visit the bungalow under the pretext of petty tasks: Plumber, salesman, Gardner, Pest control, Real estate agent etc.

Of all the weakness Creed had found the target " Greed. It was the greed of Waynanads that helped him execute his plan and execute the first theft as bait for a bigger and handsome reward.

Wayanands will always remember and curse him, but he pitied security guard.
