The Weapon and The Seashell

The Weapon and The Seashell

A Poem by tamilynnyea;.

 But I took advantage of

The time. I looked around and I knew

You'd been there once or twice, too few.

Your views are slight. When on the cove,

We swore on the seashell;

No more lies.

Love, looks like you never thought

The thought of me would be the last thought you'd

Ever think. I'd made sure you were aware, but

I know you aren't bright. You should, you could.

Being undone

Was like the first snow, sweet and bewitching.

Some mystery of the skies blowing into our eyes.

Just like the sounds of us. A mumble,

And a slamming of my door.

For scratch that needs itching,

You're just too far to scratch. Be humble

About this. We said what we said before,

And surprise.

So, here I stand, over you, cold and hollow,

Proving myself to you, my eyes, my lies, my cries.

Too soon, for too long is what it was.

Just in time for the finale,

The part where I drop the weapon--my tongue.

I walk away for the same cause

As you. By the way, all that pity you swallow,

Don't blame. It's your circle, your alley,

Your gun, you're wrong, your mine, and done.

You swore on the seashell

That when things got rough,

No lies. No gimicks, no punchlines,

Maybe that's where I went wrong.
