Friend Or FoeA Poem by Tamera Austin
Friend or Foe By: T.L. Austin Madness travels around the perimeter of my brain, It’s snake-like tongue slithering the edges, Making desperate attempts to find a crevasse to call home, Sometimes it screeches at me, In it’s desperation to find a handhold, Threatening me with untold horrors and pain. At other times it sings to me, With the sweet melodies of a Siren… Enticing me with its promises of euphoria and bliss. The struggle between embracing this entity, Or continuing to stave it off, Is exhausting my spirit. I feel I am nearly broken. Oh, look…. The sun is cresting the Eastern horizon. Time again for me to do battle. © 2008 Tamera Austin |
