Death of a Veteran

Death of a Veteran

A Poem by Natalya

Go off to the red land,

And to fight on the dessert sand.

So proud and brave.

All lives they save.

But within a gasp,

Their souls are placed in God's grasp.

Some come and go.

Their body scars to show.

But ones who sleep till reborn,

A family is torn.

Resting beneath the red, white, and blue.

An act of honor they drew.

Tears are poured,

Prayers to the lord,

Goodbyes are sent,

And happiness is resented.

But behind the grave stone,

A soldier is shown.

Saluting those they love.

Decending into the above.

Though they await at the top,

They never stop.

Continuing to protect with might,

They spotlight you with heaven's light.

Though they are gone and away,

They are still their to stay.

Not seen or heard,

But still an honored veteran who served.
