Axe in the darknessA Story by Talisa MaldonadoA girl who meets a someone interesting someone who has her experience something, something she will never forgetAxe in the Darkness
My name is Arabella, I’m not much of a normal girl, let’s just say I have killed many dreams and maybe I have killed people, but I guess reading my story will tell you everything you need to know. Just a warning that once you read this. I will know who you are and I will know what you have done. My day has begun and I have now done the unthinkable. There is a dead woman at my feet and an axe in my hands. Ok, maybe I should start from the beginning. It was a nice summer day and it was warm outside, the sun was shining and there was the breeze that was almost perfect. If I was standing in the right direction, I think as I pull some hair out of my mouth. Everyone stares at me when they walk past; I’m used to it though. I'm not normal and everyone notices. I am wearing an all-black strapless old fashioned corset dress with black boots. My hair was down that day, I have fairly long straight black hair that goes all the way down past the middle of my back.I was never the girl to have many friends but something changed that day. “Hi what's your name?” Asks a girl. She was wearing a black t shirt with skinny jeans, she had short blond hair and a sparkle in her eyes that you couldn't help but see. She looked totally normal, so why was she talking to me? “I’m Arabella, what's your name?” “I’m Belladonna, but call me Bella” She says cheerfully. We go on with the conversation and I realize we have a lot in common. More than I would have ever imagined. We ended up becoming best friends, we talked for months. I was surprised to hear that she liked the topic of death, A lot. By the 5th month she told me something, something I never would have expected her to ever say. “Ari have you ever wanted to kill someone before?” That was her nickname for me, Ari. “What?” I ask. I was kind of shocked she said this. Yet on the other hand, I don't really know why I was so shocked. I never really thought I would hear her say something like this before. “Don’t tell me you never thought about killing someone, about feeling the warm blood splatter all over your face as you bash their head in.” “Well I guess I have, why?” We were in my room at that time, just laying on my bed talking about many different things. She props herself up on her knees next to me, and I sit up slouching a bit. “I have killed people before.” She says “WHAT?!” I scream a little too loud. She has this little smirk on her face “You want to try?” “Try what?” I ask, my voice shaking a little. “Kill someone?” she says. Next thing I know we’re outside in my car staring at the old crazy cat lady's house. Let’s just say she had many sad breakups and every one of her cats is named after the boyfriend she broke up with. “Let's kill her.” She says while pointing at the house. “WHAT, NO WE CAN'T” She rolls her eyes. “What it's not like anyone's going to notice anyway, I mean it's not like she has a family who visits her or anything.” The woman comes out her door to go take out her trash. Bella grabs the ax and leaps out of the car. “BELLA HOLD ON!” I get out of the car and chase after her. She comes up to the lady, gives me the ax and covers her mouth and drags her to the alley by her house. She pushes her up against the wall “KILL HER!” She shrieks“NO, NO PLEASE DON'T KILL ME, HEEEELPPPP!” The woman screams. I hesitate for a minute “I can't do it!!!” I yell Bella comes up behind me “Yes you can, you have to!” She grabs my hands with the ax and she strikes the lady with it, again and again and again. Blood splatters all over my face and white corset dress. She’s on the floor dead, but she proceeds. She keeps striking her. I push her off me with my elbow and she lets go. “STOP IT” I bellow . I stare at the woman and drop the ax on the floor. “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?” “I thought it was pretty obvious, I mean look at her. “She says sarcastically “I have to tell someone I have to call the cops” I exclaim “Well that would be pretty dumb of you, hence the fact that your fingerprints are the only ones here.” She looks at her nails, then at me “I'm hungry, let's go” She begins to elegantly walk away. “WE CAN'T JUST LEAVE HER HERE!” I yell “Uhh, Yea we can, just take the ax and we’ll be fine. No one will even know we were here” I nod and grab the ax, I store it in the trunk of the car and we begin to drive. “So where are we going?” She says. I hesitate for a second. “I'm taking you home” Not another word is said after that. We get to her house and I park in her driveway. She begins to get out the car, when she pauses for a second and says “You have to admit it, you liked it”. At that she gets out of the car and goes in her house. A few weeks have passed and belladonna has been calling me nonstop. She left me messages saying “We have to talk” and that it was “Urgent”. My phone begins to ring, it’s her. I hesitate for a second and then I answer “Hello” I say softly into the phone. “Hey Ari, how are you?” She says in a soft apprehensive voice. © 2015 Talisa Maldonado |
