the wheel

the wheel

A Poem by Tali

grief is a seed that plants itself
no matter the nature of the soil it joins
consistent or resistant
consensus  or non-census
grief just is
it is the co-joined twin to love
one embraced the other ignored
we welcome (and rightly so!)
love into our world
what is the point of life without it?
yet the more we love,
the more, we ultimately, potentially
will grieve
why can't we then welcome death?
the ever-present  elephant in the room?
in the end,
grief is the simply the residue of love
we are loved, we loved. we love
therefore we eventually grieve
when what we love has departed
rational thinking is no match for grief
the wheel turns, love is found
rotation and we find grief in the inevitable
turning again we reason, rationalize
attempt to find acceptance
final turn brings us back to grief
eventually the realization is
that one won't exist without the other
but in the end love lives on and grief fades
the wheel continues to turn
life and love beckons
and we greet them with open arms
