The Dance of Rain

The Dance of Rain

A Poem by TAF AF
"

Have you carefully listened to rain before? Do you think they're dancing, too?

"

It is like every usual winter.

Raindrops change their routes as the wind takes them.

They dance toward the trees right next to me,

and echo back on my face

along with stains of whispers by the leaves.

Rain dances hard.

The sound of their tiny feet on the ground, on the greens

take over my sensations;

block away other sounds creeping in the night.

Rain dances hard.

I want to join them.

I push my toes forward…

but the artificial sound

made by furious raindrops and my shoe

warn me to stay back.

Yes, I know.

Well enough that I’m not that part of the world.

The last line got me thinking.
Are we not parts of the same world?
What separates us?
We express our moods referring to rain ("Feeling under the weather" or "Dancing in the rain")

But, of course we are separated from the elements. We project our feelings onto them, whereas they just do what the weather dictates.

Your use of sensory images is nice.

I just love the rain. Any time it is mentioned I am drawn toward it. It's like nature's tears for humanity, because we fail to be better, and listen to her song. The rain she is both music and dance. Thank you for sharing your wonderful poem.
