YouA Poem by Tabitha MMy first poem I've ever posted anywhere, finally wanted to share something, so, enjoy.
You are the earth,
I dig up pieces of you, And sift your flaws through my fingers. The fossils that are your past, Make for the best stories. Your skin is the ground I travel upon, Miles of unexplored terrain. I want to see every imperfection, every crack, and every fracture. But I won't climb to the top of every mountain that is your spine, And I won't crawl into every crevice that lies within your heart, That way I have something new to find, to admire, and to cherish. You are the ocean, I dive into your mind and get lost sailing across your memories. But I follow the shimmer that reflects off of your light brown eyes, And it guides me to a paradise that is your soul. You are air, I breathe you in and you fill my lungs with butterflies, Suffocating me like cigarette smoke. But you are not deadly. You teach me to be grateful for every breath that you give me. Without you, the butterflies die, and I no longer feel like I can walk on air. Without you I'd be lonely. Well, maybe, I'd become a green forest of vine draping tapestries, An overgrown field of weeds. With you I am tamed, I am lion and you are my cage. Without you I am wild, I am a beast that's keeps unyielding rage. Your voice is a symphony, And your heartbeat is the melody. You are the stars, I am the night sky. You shine faintly in a vast space, And I, a dark void, take you into my embrace, And become a beautiful infinity. You shoot kisses that fly across the galaxy like comets, To one day crash into my heart, Taking all but just a part of me left to sit in embers. And that small part of me, Takes comfort from the tiny flames that live within my hollow chest. You are an inferno, Uncontrollable, but eloquent. You leave scars on my lips when we kiss, Passion I guess. You are the sea, Your mind is a thousand feet deep, But the surface is just as beautiful. You make me feel weightless In your arms, And yes sometimes the waters are rough, Waves crash against the sides of your skull, Dark clouds form and lightening strikes, But that's alright, I'll ride the waves. Because when the storm subsides, And the water is calm We will both be at peace. And you are you. Something special, unique, A gentle soul with a bright smile A great mind and big heart. And I don't know what will happen in the future For you and me, But for now I don't mind, Because you You, make me happy.. © 2017 Tabitha MAuthor's Note
