The Art of WarA Poem by Wall of WordsBlood, guts, gore They are the paint of war Red, black, white These are the colors of fights Red for pain and blood and sorrow Black for deaths and no tomorrow White is blessed - clean and pure The ending calm, for wound with no cure Hateful feuds, thirst for revenge These are blood-lusts that never end People scream and cry and plead But he’s encased in stone, he’ll not be freed Hammers, stones, arrows, swords These tools paint the scene of war Bodies, wounds, disease and fear They are strewn about the field Bodies of those who did fall Wounds of those forever marred Disease of those sick from the horror And fear to drive those left in the torture This, my friend, is the art of war The charges, soldiers, prisoners and more You helped make this red-stained scene The ballet of our darkest dreams Yes, it’s beautiful, yes it’s cruel Yes, it’s passion fully let loose But is it worth it? Did it aid? Or are you wondering: What was the meaning of that hate? © 2015 Wall of WordsAuthor's Note
