WHITE

WHITE

A Poem by Sylvia Chika

Clothed in white

Not dead

Not in Heaven

Not even at my wedding

Far from it

All in white

Running down the hallway

Searching for the exit door

Overdosed on drugs

Staring at faces so unfamiliar

Laughter as loud as thunder

Insanity all around me

Running as fast as I can

Cages

Locked doors

Needles and insanity

Im running

Lost in a labyrinth

Searching for an exit door

The doctors chase me down the hallway

Like demons in a nightmare

They all look enraged and desperate

Yelling and cursing

Warning and screaming

I need a way out!!!

An open window!

A trapdoor!

Anything!

I need a way out!!!

The drugs begin to kick in

I cant feel my tongue anymore

My heart is racingpoundingfluttering

My legs betray me

My sight fails me

The hallway begins to morph

Im no longerI cant

The doctors now look like huge ugly insects

I fall on the ground

But it feels like a bed

Its soft

I close my eyes

Welcoming the soft clouds

Drifting off

Into my little world of beautiful insanity
