Sad but often true.

Sad but often true.

A Poem by sydel-amesthyst
"

How it feels to stand alone.

"

Emotions come back and overtake me with such force,

I can no longer stand my ground, thrown off balance by

Turmoil that haunts me,

That no one understands, nor even sees. And I get to be

Strong, take it all. Every hit,

Every thrust of every sword.

The wounds and scars bleed, slowly streaming into a light

Pool beneath me. And the swords left in me, I pull out,

And toss aside. Looking up at the night sky as tears roll

Down my cheeks. Shortly after,

They cease.  Having no more to shed, whipping the salt off

My face, I take a deep breath , find my sword, still

Unsheathed. To then bandage the new inflictions I so carefully acquired.

My soul humming with emotional distraught. Torn between what

I wish for, what’s right and what’s wrong.

I once again stand my ground, becoming a shield

For the ones I love. To be shunned after the

Battle and left to tend to myself.

And when my own battle wages, and the tides are against me,

I stand alone.

Sometimes we have to stand alone. Britain did agains the Nazi beast in 1940. And we face little wars as individuals often when we, too, must stand for what we believe is right.
