scared to know you

scared to know you

A Poem by Switzerland

It scares me to know you,

Not because you are cruel,

Not because you’re uncaring

Or untrustworthy

But because you cared,

Because you easily found what I hid from ridicule and

In a glance doubt had no meaning

It is hard to look at you

Not because you are ugly,

Not because you frighten me,

Or disappoint me

But because when I look in your eyes there is nothering else,

Because so safe a feeling I could fly,

And because I don't measure your worth

I could never touch you,

Not because you are cold or course

Not because you will bruise me

Not because it will burn me

But because you are softly warm,

Because your slight touch reduces me to trembles

And because it would ignite my senses to unknown heights

I can not stay

Not because you will leave for another

Not because I am trapped

Or forced

But because I'll drive you away, with insecurities,

Because I am to free when with you

And nothing in existence could move me unwilling.

They said it was impossible

They said it was foolish to believe in

And no reality will measure my expectations

But all is probable

The color my dreams are vivid reality

And I watch in wonder at your realism

If your loving and trusting gaze turned to disappointment

Turned to sorrow and sadness or heartache

My very existence would crumble

That is why it scares me to know you
