Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time

A Story by Switzerland

Once upon a time in a far off place some say never existed, there lived the Princess of Hope.
It was a place of clear thought and understanding. Where loneliness and betrayal had no meaning, hurt and pain was something unknown.
Once upon a time it truly existed to those who believed. Slowly one by one however doubt began to rest on their shoulders and little by little they started to forget the things once so easily shared. Replaced with insecurities and selfishness, the wall was built brick by heavy brick, stealing off any view of this place and with it all memory of what used to be. It was now an impossible fairytale told to wide eyed children at bedtime, the idea of such a place and how euphoric it might have been if only it were possible. Soon just a passing thought in a whirlwind storm of responsibilities, confusion, and misunderstanding it was swept away to be lost in the see of impossibilities.
Lost in an endless rain of bitterness, the beautiful Princess remained locked always inside, trapped in a web of sorrow awaiting her prince of freedom. Unable to see what kept him away, the worst of her plight was she could see him just over the wall and as if he was eternally frozen in place, He gazed regretfully up at her. She was tormented day and night by his imagine. Did he refuse to scale the wall or was the strength she'd never questioned an illusion. the questions why left her exhausted. Hope fading from her the sun started to dim and the seas around her became restless. Enforcing the walls around them to stand strong.
As she lay slowing fading into despair and hopelessness she did not know that the walls had been cursed, like a lying looking glass filled with illusions from doubt.
The Prince worried he would not make it to her in time. As the sea grew darker and the waves higher he knew she was loosing faith in him. He had taken too long and with her dying faith made it harder for him make the journey. His own heart started to sink and he struggled to remember his destination.
He was almost ready turn back when a slight part in the clouds and the sun radiantly shining through he remembered. She had not lost all hope.
As the Princess made her final walk across her beaches before it rained another day. She noticed something up ahead. As she got closer she noticed it was a man. Her prince charming, he was battered and torn but still alive. By the time she reached him the sun was shinning brighter then it ever had before, the seas calmed to their normal lull.
"Tell me you will live." she whispered down on him kissing his face. With every kiss he was revived a bit more for he had found his hope and set the world once forgotten right again.
