Winds of Change

Winds of Change

A Poem by Chrstina'Melnik

The winds have stirred.
The breeze has brought new change.
Something of the mystery has brought uncertainty.
A thought both unwelcome and strange.

A treasure.
The treasure.

The long-sought gem had been found.
But is its' value now gone?
The trophy had been placed in the winner's hands.
But.
It has been set down.
On a dusty ground it now stands.

Was there relief in finally receiving such a priceless gift?
The initial pride has worn down.
Why is it that that jewel has now become too heavy to lift?
Once that same jewel was displayed with arms raised high.
With shouts of victory it was set amongst the stars in the sky.

Does its sparkle now burn the gaze?
Do intricate details now seem to disfigure its once beautiful face?
Has the desire left?
Or was true love for it never felt?

Does a new prize overshadow the old?
How can such hot, passionate feelings grow stone cold?
Coward.
Pick up that proud-of prize from long ago.
It's time for loyalty to make its' show.
Dust off that grime...
think, and remember with what you fought.
...And with what great price that now neglected treasure was once bought.

The path has been cleared.
The set has been staged.
For the winds have stirred.
And the breeze has brought new change.

wow. this is amazing. the jewel kept transforming like a symbol into love in my mind (and if that's what you were aiming for, then great, if not, then it really made an impact on me either way and some sort of allegorical implication is always very welcome) and accordingly, the ungrateful coward made me think of the masses that don't really value that jewel, which completely should be put on its own pedestal...so fantastic write :)

I love this, and I couldn't help when reading it constantly replacing the jewel with a heart. The use of rhetorical questions are well used as it shows a confused state of mind, or lack of presence other than the narrator of the poem, I believe lonliness is indirectly presence. But those are just personal views, you have talent. Keep up the good work and feel free to review back.
