Written for a friend who was having a bad period of life
Golden sword and shield dropped The fire within her heart has stopped She's lost the strength to battle on The colours in her sight have gone Sitting on a throne of pain Sifting her mistakes again Not feeling Just being Immune to the tales of her glory That's not her she sees in the story She hides herself in the night She can not bear to face the light So tired of this endless quest Wanting nothing more but to rest Awhile In denial Of all the good she has done Battles lost and battles won She doesn't see it anymore Feels as if she's lost the war But wars like this they never end and over time the spirit mends Heartbreak and daybreak will force the shadows there to flee She will realise that she is free and shed the chains that tried to hold the warrior with heart of gold who once again shall don her Armour
I can't decide whether to laugh or cry when I read all that's upon this posting! Starting with your opening comment "bad period" . . . then moving down to Tony's comment (earnest? sarcastic? spoof?) . . . and finally reading what sounded to me like a deep, sincere, thoughtful poem that any friend would be honored to have written about him/her! There are a number of male writers who try to interpret (in words) what his special female is going thru, in terms of a bad stretch of life (or whatever) . . . sometimes these kinds of poems strike me as being overly solicitous. What I like about your msg is that you celebrate her strength as much as you share her struggles (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Menstruation must be a terrible burden to have. Every month to be hormonally turned up and turned down and still expected to persevere as if nothing is happening.
I hope your friend gets her periods sorted out soon.
This is a brilliant write of believe in her and her fighting spirit.
Bravo.
