Life BookA Poem by sweetvalorieIn reflection of unexpectedly, tragically losing my gramma.
If we had the "book of our life"
at our fingertips to read, and we gained the knowledge of what our future held, we would live out our lives according to what the last chapter designates as "The End." Think about that. Would we not? As it is, we don't know what kind of chapters or how many chapters our books will have. Some books are quite lengthy while others seem to be cut too short. We don't know how our book will end. Or do we? We can add a couple things to our books that can make for an exceptional story. We can add a chapter titled, "Coming to Christ". We can add the final chapter titled, "No Longer Here, Heaven Is My New Home". While we don't know what the journey looks like on our way to the end of the book, getting to the last chapter is a mystery to each one of us, but everyone will come to their life's end here on earth. Some people's final chapter may be shocking, intense, unexpected, or simply eased into, but we can trust the Lord because he is already in that final chapter, regardless of what it holds. He is not taken by surprise as He is the author of each of our books. Somehow, someway, someday, we will take our last breath on earth, which is very much a part of everyone's book. Our last breath doesn't have to be the end of our book though. If we have placed our trust in Christ, we know that there is more beyond taking our final earthly breath. After our last breath, we will awaken, step into glory, and into the presence of Jesus Christ in Heaven. That, my friends, is the best "end" to any book, regardless of the chapters and events that are included throughout. Beyond these thoughts, our lives should be lived in such a way that leaves us with no regrets and leaves us no important "plans" undone. Today, in this very minute, is the time that we have. We are not promised another moment beyond this one that has been given. Future plans may never be able to be fulfilled as life can change ever so quickly without warning. Life on earth is here one minute and gone the next. Don't count on tomorrow being there to finish, achieve, or plan for what you should say, do, and attend to today. Use your time wisely and don't waste an opportunity to hug and kiss the ones whom you've been blessed with, thank God for the time that you have been given, and praise the Lord for the Savior that has been given so that you can know how your book ends (or continues throughout eternity). © 2014 sweetvalorieReviews
