His Comfort

His Comfort

A Chapter by Norma M Sutton

His comfort floats on the air
It's the breeze that caresses my hair
The songs of the night
Whispering into sleep laden ears

His comfort comes with a soft touch
From a unlikely pair
It's the soft velvet paw as it pats my cheek
The wet warm tongue massaging my feet

His comfort comes on a bright starry night
When all is done and I've given up the fight
A soft warbled song sung from the deep
Settles me down into most peaceful of sleeps

His comfort falls
With the patterning rain
Kissing my skin
A mother's refrain

His comfort comes if only I call
Then listen to hear the breeze in the hall
Wrapping around me a loving embrace
No longer running the unending race

His comfort comes in the darkest of nights
Lighting the way with the brightest of lights
Sending his warmth a multitude of ways
Just stop and listen to what He has to say

Whispers of trees and pattering rain
Songs of birds, soft patting paws
Caresses of wind, warm wet foot kisses
Baa's in the night a shepherd never misses.
