Aiyanna

Aiyanna

A Chapter by Norma M Sutton

From the silence of the night a baa calls
Listen close and hear
Mother sheep calling lambs near
Another baa follows as
Lambs answer and search to find
Mother's udder warm and full
White warm liquid they drink their fill

From the silence a bird draws near
Singing loudly
Whippoorwill, whip'0'wil
Off in the distance a answering call
Whippoorwill, whip'o'wil

From night's silence
Croakers creep
Splatter and splash in the creek

Deep within the night
The wind whistles
Tree tops blow
Trunks creak and bend low

Brightness flashes in the darkness
Nature's light show
Under the flickering light
Animals move in nervous delight
Thunder shudders their peaceful quiet

From flashes of light
And thunder so deep
A new soft call my ears do greet
Voice soft and tender
A new world to meet
Eager eyes gaze all around
Searching for this wondrous new sound

Until a flash her presence reveals
Dark as nightfall under the moon
White crescent new ears conceal
Showing her presence
As she drinks her first meal

Eyes young and old
Take in the sight
Quiet excitement abounds
As new arrival they surround
Each touching and greeting
This new one just born
On into the night until the next morn

The sun rises and weak rays adorn
Coat black as coal shine in the light
White crescent moon over the night
Born during the nightly storm
To the ewe with the beautiful horns

Still a little rough around the edges, but I wanted to make sure I had it saved until I can work on it a little more.

Great description and topic. The beginning was a little slow but then the flow of the writing became really good and hooked me. Very nice portray of the scenario. Great job and amazing piece. This made it past this first cut.

Thank you for taking me into the farm world, I could picture it in all its glory... such a pure and simple life... takes me back to my uncle's farms in Idaho when I was a kid.
