The june bug and the praying mantis were the first insects I learned to recognize. The june bugs, I'd tie a string to and fly them around, and when I saw a praying mantis in the small cedar tree in the yard, I'd report it to mom right away. "They'll spit in your eye and blind you," she said. Your description here is excellent.

Very well penned, and clear as poetry can be, packed out to a wonderful thought of yours. Keep up the good work! nice!!!
I saw one of these on my garbage can lid once and it was really cool and kinda freaky at the same time. Love your poem, the build of of tension and challenge in it.
Very good. I have a poem about the creature as well. Trivia: the Praying Mantis is the only insect which CAN turn its head. I think they are beautiful creatures. And I used to catch them all the time as a kid. I once brought a cocoon to class and the class waited for a butterfly to hatch from the chrysalis...but SURPRISE! We came in one morning and had a hundred baby mantis crawling around! True story!
