Phoenix Rising

A Story by Norma M Sutton
"

Not sure where I'm going with this yet . . .

"

Exhaling tightly held breath, a gasp exploded from her lips becoming a ear shattering scream as his body fell from the heavens. With the force of a comet he approached the earth, hugging the ground before extending massive wings and wheeling skyward once again.

Heart leaping from her chest as the earth receded behind the clouds her scream turned to joyous laughter. Their breath becoming vapor clouds of warmth in a freezing sky. Below the sun shone orange gold, above the sky glistened in shades of blue, from the most brilliant turquoise to the deepest shades of navy. The silence was deafening. The cold cut through the numbness of her soul.

She heard a sound, a tiny sound, that broke through the protective shell she wore. It caught her attention, pulling her away from the joys of flight. The soft whisper of a cry grew and grew until it became a vast chorus of mourning voices.

It's certainly dynamic and exciting, but lacks sufficient detail for me to form a visual of it. Apparently, the "she" is riding on or attached to the "he", but more than that, I can't be sure. Great writing, and something that deserves to be expanded a bit---or a lot.
