And There Was Silence

And There Was Silence

A Poem by Norma M Sutton

And there was silence
The world held its breath

And there was silence
No one could guess

And there was silence
As the trees hid their eyes

And there was silence
Ringing to the skies

And there was silence
The world made not a sound

And there was silence
No one left around

And there was silence
As tears filled her eyes

And there was silence
Not even a sigh

And there was silence
The rain began to fall

And there was silence
No pattering was found

And there was silence
As the drops hit all around

And there was silence
Ringing under ground

And there was silence
The world seemed to call

And there was silence
No answering voice falls

And there was silence
As her calls grew and grew

And there was silence
Ringing in the dew

And there was silence
The days of song has passed

And there was silence
No one thought it would last

And there was silence
As another day renewed

And there was silence
Ringing primordial stew

And there was silence
The day had finally come

And there was silence
No dark to overcome

And there was silence
As feet touched the land

And there was silence
Ringing in her hands

And there was silence no more
As life crept across the land

The world held its breath.
Well penned.

it was addicting to read, seems strange I know. But the repetative tone acts a stimulus. It gives it feeling and cadence, loved it.

My Dear Writing Friend,
A very creative write that used a term I did not know. I looked up the words “primordial stew” and your word picture came to life.

primordial soup
noun
a solution rich in organic compounds in the primitive oceans of the earth, from which life is hypothesized to have originated.

With this key I was able to view your work I believe in the light and color contrast your words reflected, I think. Very creative.

Blessings, Laughing-Bear

Silence can be a powerful thing especially when it finally ends. This poem builds up in a powerful way to the ending, love the repeated line, it adds a strong touch to the whole poem. This really is a wonderful poem!
