And it Started

And it Started

A Chapter by Norma M Sutton
"

The prelude to And She Wept

"

And it started with a rumble
Deep within the ground

And it rose up and tumbled
G
randiose walls down

And it started with a rumble
That grew and grew and grew

And it rose up through the layers
Supporting me and you

And it started with a rumble
Shaking underground

It rose with fiery wonder
Shining all around

And it started with a rumble
A hot and putrid breath

And it rose beneath the crescent moon
Glittering ash abounds

And it started with a rumble
That grew and grew and grew

And it rose even higher
Scaring me and you

Yes it started with a rumble
That blew a heated rush

And it rose to the heavens
All below it crushed

That rumble coughing forth
A spew of molten dust

Then rose and burned the earth
And everything it touched

Rumbling on and on
Demanding to make right

It rose and burned the living
Purifying blight

Rumbling every outward
Until the break of dawn

Rising up the eerie light
All secrets now were gone

And then as the sun rose
It horrors brightly shown

Ash and fire tumbling
Falling to the ground

The earth felt the grumbling
Beneath unearthly light

Fumbling on our knees
We cried at her sight

And it started with a rumble
From the distant sighs

Rising with the wind
In darkened smoke filled skies

And it started with a rumble
That flashed across burned plains

Rising with crashing thunder
It began to rain

There are always warning signs that we fell to see when a relationship is coming to an end. Some great metaphoric references.
