The Mermaid's Song

The Mermaid's Song

On normal sunny isle
Do I sing
Under light of the full moon

Calling long and lonely
Songs to you
Release me from your spell

Mismatched and all alone
The song of you and I
Under the sea foams sighs

Into my arms I cry
Beseeching you forever gone
To leave me not alone

You cross the ocean
For your home
To suitors you can roam

Leaving me here to die
Sad and lonely
With only a song

Dreaming of you and I
Haunted by images
In a world never to be

In desolation and despair
Lonely and alone
I wait to die

I gues some of us are like mermaids, we only dream of a life we cannot have, only to watch others from afar, wishing upon a star that one day we may able to join what looks so happy and fulfilment, a longing for that can never be.

I love the imagery of "sea foam sighs." That's going to be in my mind all day. Renfieldians unite1
