Eyes of shells
Hair of seaweed Fingers shooting ink We run Run for the earth Run for the surf Our life of play has begun Begining with the setting sun Under the moon's silver rays In the sand we spend our days Until with the rising sun To Davey's Locker we return Two leggeds ones look and point Follow in fear as we haunt Until long last our journey is done And to the foaming surf we return Return in death to place of birth Water and salt the eternal cleanser Walking the land lonely and alone Until at last we return home Our funeral celebrated by the rising sun Fingers of ink coating love ones Passed from hand to hand Ink our shroud as we return Into the water Into the salt Under the full day's sun Slowly our bodies decay until We rise with the setting sun Eerie white ripples rise from the waves Shining with the moon's white rays Waving hello to family below Eyes of shells Hair of seaweed Fingers shooting ink We run © 2011 Norma M SuttonAuthor's Note
