I have a ring given to me by my dad's first cousin. It was given to her by her
mom and to her mom by her mother's brother. This is the story of that ring. A solitary pearl I am Softly glowing and round Set in 10 carat gold solitary mount I wait Full of hope I was bought A ring for the finger of a special girl He carried me in his pocket Asking her on trembling knee Alas she nar said I do With great sadness he carried me home A gift to his sister instead She wore me until her dying day And then I was passed on To her daughter who Put me on her finger And cherished me with all her might Upon her death I was passed on To the daughter of a cousin Who wore me well until Afraid of my loss she stored me safely With one day hopes of passing me to her daughter A daughter that she never had Now alas what will become of me Will no one be there to carry me on Is this the end of my journey Is this the end of my story Is this the end of my value What will become of me © 2010 Norma M SuttonAuthor's Note
