The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by Norma M Sutton
"

Thoughts on tonights storm. Embellished a bit as the dogs and cats don't seem to mind, but the moon is out on one side of me and the storm is coming in from the other.

"
The storm rolled in on starry night
It's booming noise to my right
The moon shown on my left
Intriging me stopping my steps

The storm hung low over the fields
The moon shown bright over the trees
Only God's eyes can see
Beauty such as these

The storm drew closer and closer still
Leaves shimmered and blew
Whispering in concern
Never before had they twirled so

The storm stopped above me
With a loud KABOOM
The moon hid it's face from perceived doom
And I high tailed it into my room

Inside I sat and watched the light dance
As shadows drew near me fearfully entranced
The sparks from my fire lit up the dark room
And once again came a KABOOM

My cat fled hiding behind a broom
Wiskers twitching and tail a fuzz
From her throat did issue a growl
From the front porch came the dog's howl

Before opening the screen
And careening into the room
Big white and muddy
Head hidden under my bed

Finally at long last the storm began to dull
Lulling into a short kind of dread
As around it did circle
And pound in my head

Dreading it's return that would be all to soon
Filling the heavens
KABOOM
KABOOM

I love storms and my baby sherlock ( a deceased daschund) was always terrifed of thunder. This writing reminds me of those wonderful nights we spent together....thank you :) Peace

This is cool. I can almost hear the Kaboom. Cool creativity in this. Nicely done.

I too love to sit and watch a storm... there is something beautiful within the fury... very nicely done... you captured the whole experience with great form.

I like the motif of KABOOM, it really gives the piece a sense of intensity
