Changing of the Guard

Changing of the Guard

A Poem by Norma M Sutton
"

Thoughts on the passing seasons

"

Autumn's sun kissed days draw to a close
As its bloom fades away
Wrapping the earth in a golden blanket

Winter rides in cold and grey
On the crisp night air stars twinkle
Winter's cold morn yearns for the rising sun

Warming hearts Warming minds
Warming bodies Warming souls
Warming the sleeping earth

Until springs warmth wakens the earth again
Sending up shoots of green
Smiling up in floral abandonment at the rising sun

Spring flowers and showers welcome the summer's hot sun
Blessed rains to cool the too hot air
Drenching parched earth and begging trees

Until the end nears and the trees loose their leaves
And bow their heads in respite
Dreaming of the cold winters sleep ahead
